The 2026 Limestone County Fair is dedicated to the memory of Lane Taylor, a beautiful soul gone too soon. Lane left his earthly home for his place beside our savior on June 4, 2025 where he was welcomed at the Jordan river by his daughter, Lana Renee Taylor Venable.
A true outdoorsman, Lane found joy in hunting, fishing, and tinkering in his shop. He never hesitated to include his girls and grandchildren in what he enjoyed. Weekends at the deer lease, fishing at the lake and teaching everyone how to change a tire or weld a pretty bead were always on the agenda. He especially cherished Saturday nights spent at the domino table with his friends and family.
Lane found great purpose in working with his hands whether it was building a pipe feeder, fashioning a breaking harness for show cattle or working on a truck, he took pride in his craftsmanship. He was widely recognized and considered one of the best welders in Texas. But more importantly, it was his heart and dedication to his family that defined him.
Lane was a humble, kind, and generous man. His love for his wife Kim, whom he married on October 28, 1978, was steadfast and served as a model of devotion for their three daughters, Nicki, Lana and Kasey. Lane and Kim raised the girls in Personville where both lived until Lane’s passing.
In the girls' younger years, Lane served on the Texas Youth Ranch Rodeo Association board of directors and was a board member for the LCFA for many years. He coached t-ball and softball and later, never missed a jr. high or high school athletic event of the girls.
Lane and Kim created a loving home where faith and family were at the center. Their daughters found that same love in their own lives, and in return, gave Lane his greatest joys—his grandchildren. Lane absolutely lived for them.
Whether at a roping, a rodeo, a stock show, or a ballgame, Lane could always be found cheering on his grandkids, Weston, Rhett, Myli, Hays and Kaki, just as he had done for his own daughters.
One of his daughters was asked at his passing how she would describe him. She simply said, “He planted seeds”. She went on to explain that Lane was never shy about his faith and had a way of resonating with people and leaving seeds everywhere he went and was met with a “Well done my good and faithful servant” when he awoke in heaven.
Lane Taylor will be remembered for his unwavering love, strong faith, and the legacy of kindness he showed his family, his friends and his community.
The Limestone County Fair Board is honored to dedicate the 2026 Limestone County Fair to Lane Taylor .
